Seven year old Karmanya lives at a cottage near Naukuchiya Tal in Nainital District. From his cottage the night sky is clear and filled up with stars and constellations. At the moment he is in the ‘Why’ stage. He questions everything with a Why? Unsurprisingly Karmanya had umpteen number of questions about space and astronomy. What was surprising though, that the next day he showed me his notebook with drawings and most of the answers that he had asked for. I had explained to him what ‘Karman Line’ means – a sort of limit of Earth’s atmosphere and space. I was very happy to a drawing of concept in his notebook.
On receiving the telescope, Karmanya took over the 10-inch Aperture Telescope without a thought, and in a completely natural way pointed it to Jupiter with ease. It will be routine for him and the Kapur Family to see wonderful celestial objects, in the clear night sky of the Himalayas.
